2022-23 Sky Bet Championship: Sheffield United promoted to Premier League 2 years after relegation

Sheffield United FC, second in the 2022-23 Sky Bet Championship with a seven-point lead over third-placed Luton Town FC with two games to go (and a game in hand), are assured of finishing the year in that position and therefore promotion to the Premier League without going through the playoffs, following their 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion FC on 26/04/2023.

Relegated to the second division after the 2020-21 season, Sheffield return to the top flight after two seasons in the Championship, and will join Burnley FC, also promoted in early April 2023.

Sheffield has been 97.25% owned by Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) through the holding company United World Holdings Limited since 2013.
