France: Jean-Marc Conrad, president of Nîmes Olympique, resigns over suspected match-fixing

"I have decided to resign my position as president of Nîmes Olympique. This decision, which has not been forced (upon me), is primarily to protect the interests of my club," said Jean-Marc Conrad, president and shareholder of Nîmes Olympique (Ligue 2), on 21/11/2014.

Six people, including Jean-Marc Conrad, president of Nîmes Olympique (Ligue 2) and Jean-François Fortin, president of SM Caen (Ligue 1), have been indicted in connection with the investigation of several matches played at the end of the 2014-15 season by Nîmes, with the club suspected of having managed to stay in Ligue 2 via match-fixing. The two presidents had already been suspended from any club or football-related activities since 20/11/2014, effective until further notice.
