Wimbledon 2022: a turnover of £346.64m (+20.4%) & operating profit of €56m (+8.6%)

The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), organiser of the Wimbledon tournament, has posted a turnover of £346.64m (€412.7m as of 31/07/2022) for the financial year 2022 (01/08/2021 to 31/07/2022) during which the British Grand Slam tournament was held for the first time without Covid-19-related capacity restrictions since 2020, according to annual accounts published on 27/04/2023.

This turnover, up 20.4% on 2021 (£287.9m, up from £4.9m in 2020), is higher than that recorded in 2019 (£292m), the last edition before the pandemic.

Media rights and sponsorship are the two main sources of revenue for the AELTC, with TV rights accounting for more than half of the organisation's turnover "with the UK and US as the main markets."

🎾 Operating profit (£47m/€56m) was up 8.6% compared to 2021 (£43.3m/€50.8m). £42.4m (€50.5m) was donated to the Lawn Tennis Association.
🎾 The organiser's net profit was £1.86m (€2.2m) in 2022, compared with £5.5m (€6.4m) in 2021.
