Sky Deutschland: Jeremy Darroch, director of Sky, named chairman of the supervisory board

The Briton Jeremy Darroch, CEO of the British pay-TV group Sky (formerly BSkyB), has been appointed chairman of the board, in addition to monitoring, the German subsidiary Sky Deutschland, on 19/11/2014.

Andrew Griffith, Chief Financial Officer of Sky, has also been incorporated into the Sky Deutschland supervisory board. These appointments follow the acquisition by Sky of 87.45% of the share capital and voting rights of Sky Deutschland on 13/11/2014. The amount of the transaction amounted to approximately €5.5 billion for the British group.

  • Sky reached an agreement with the American media group 21st Century Fox, on 25/07/2014, for the acquisition of the shares that the latter holds in Sky Italia (100%) and Sky Deutschland (57.4%).
    • Sky then augmented its acquisition of Sky Deutschland by acquiring an additional 30.05% of shares held by minority shareholders.
