The 16 clubs competing in the 2021-22 Spanish women's first division (then called 'Primera Iberdrola' and organised by the RFEF) generated revenues of €18.1m and a net loss of €19.9m, according to the report on the economic and financial situation of Spanish professional women's football in 2021-22, published by the Spanish High Council of Sports (CSD) in early May 2023.

Advertising and commercial revenues were the main source of income for clubs, generating €7.1m (39.5%), ahead of matchday revenues (€3.07m, 17%) and TV rights (€3.06m, 16.9%). The CDS shows that one club, FC Barcelona, League champions, accounted for 46% of total revenues, including 60.8% of TV rights and 56.9% of commercial/advertising revenues.

In 2021-22, the 16 clubs spent €38.1m, of which €25.7m (67.3%) was spent on wages and salaries. All clubs had a negative post-season result, with three clubs accounting for 39.7% of total losses.

These financial results are being published for the first time, after the Spanish women's league was declared professional from the 2021-22 season by the CSD.
