LaLiga: €4.8bn (+22.6%) generated by the 42 Spanish clubs in 2021-22; €140.1m in net losses

Total revenues for the 42 LaLiga clubs (the 20 LaLiga Santander clubs + the 22 LaLiga SmartBank clubs) reached €4.83bn in 2021-22, up 22.6% on the previous financial year, to come close to the pre-Covid-19 record level set in 2019-20 (€5.045bn), announced the Spanish professional football league in its annual economic report for 2021-22, presented on 04/05/2023.

Matchday revenues, at €884.2m (18.2% of total revenues), have experienced the strongest growth (+123%), thanks to the return of fans to Spanish stadiums following the lifting of restrictions related to Covid-19 at the start of the 2021-22 season. TV rights are stable and represent the main source of revenue (35%, €1.69bn). Sponsorship revenues correspond to 19.2% of the total and increased by 2.9% compared to 2021, reaching €931m in 2022. Only transfer revenues (8.3% of the total) were down: €402m, compared with €542m in 2021 (-25%).
