Emiliano Sala transfer: Cardiff's appeal against FC Nantes rejected by Swiss Federal Court

• Dismissal of the appeal against the sentence rendered on 26/08/2022 by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)
• Payment of legal costs in the amount of CHF47,000 (€48,000)
• Payment of compensation of CHF57,000 (€58,300) to FC Nantes (Ligue 1 Uber Eats)

These are the decisions made by the Swiss Federal Court on 30/03/2023 and made public on 09/05/2023 regarding the appeal lodged by Cardiff City FC (Sky Bet Championship) on 26/09/2022 against the CAS decision. The latter had already rejected the appeal lodged by the Welsh club against the decision of the FIFA Players' Status Committee on 25/09/2019 and confirmed that the transfer of Emiliano Sala from Nantes to Cardiff had been completed before his death.

Argentine striker Emiliano Sala had been transferred for €17m (excluding bonuses) from FC Nantes to then Premier League side Cardiff City FC on 19/01/2019, two days before the plane carrying him from France to Wales crashed.
