Premier League/CSR: Liverpool & Tottenham, the most sustainable clubs in 2022 (Sport Positive)

Liverpool FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC are the two Premier League clubs most committed to the environment and sustainability, according to the fourth edition of the Premier League Environmental Sustainability Matrix published by the UK agency Sport Positive on 11/05/2023. The London club tops the table for the third year running, while Liverpool also came first in the 2021 edition (up from 7^th place in 2020).

The ranking is based on eleven criteria, each of which is worth up to two points (policy and commitment, communications & engagement; clean energy; energy efficiency; single-use plastic reduction or removal; waste management; water efficiency; plant-based/low carbon food; biodiversity; education; and sustainable procurement), as well as one criterion worth up to three points (sustainable transport).

Two bonus points can be awarded to clubs whose efforts in environmental responsibility are recognised by international certification, and who measure and publicise the percentage of fans using sustainable transport to get to the stadium on matchdays.
