2015 International Champions Cup: €34m economic impact for Australia thanks to Real Madrid

Real Madrid CF (Liga BBVA) will participate in the 2015 Guinness International Champions Cup 2015 pre-season tournament, held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (capacity 100,000) in Melbourne (Australia), from 18 to 24/07/2015, announced the tournament organisers on 24/11/2014.

An impact €34m to the local economy is expected with the arrival of Real Madrid, said Damian Drum, the Sports Minister for the state of Victoria (Australia) to the American pay-TV sports channel Fox Sports on 24/11/2014. Manchester United FC (Barclays Premier League) and FC Internazionale Milano (Serie A TIM) may also participate in this competition, according to several Australian media outlets.

A competition organised in the United States and Canada since 2013
