"(I say) yes to a Champions League with six Italian clubs, (and the same for) for England, Spain, Germany and France. AC Milan and Manchester United have only played against each other six times since the birth of Champions League. Why so little?" stated Marco Bogarelli, president of the media and marketing rights agency Infront Italy, to the Italian daily La Gazzetta dello Sport on 12/11/2014.

"If anything is wrong with the system, it is the input to UEFA competitions. Here, Italy pays €270m (per year) for the TV rights for the Champions League (Mediaset pays €233m for the Champions League for the 2015-18 period) and the Europe League, yet has only two teams in one of the most important cups. There are five countries, including Italy, which make up 70% of the Champions League's turnover," said Marco Bogarelli.

"I say that the current format (of European competitions) is not adaptable to the new logic of football. I do not want a closed system, but an open one that provides a ranking better designed for the economic contribution (of countries). Maybe for the Europa League this does…
