MLS: San Diego (California), the North American leagues' 30^th franchise, to debut in 2025

The city of San Diego (California, USA) will host the 30^th Major League Soccer franchise, which will debut in 2025, announced the North American league on 18/05/2023.

The team will play at Snapdragon Stadium (San Diego, 35,000 capacity), where NWSL franchise San Diego Wave FC already plays its home games. The name and crest for the new franchise will be unveiled before the start of the 2025 season.

The future MLS club is owned by businessman Mohamed Mansour and the Sycuan tribe of the Kumeyaay Nation. "The Sycuan Tribe becomes the first Native American tribe to have an ownership stake in professional soccer in the United States. Also joining the investor group is six-time Major League Baseball All-Star and San Diego Padres infielder Manny Machado," said MLS. MLB player Manny Machado is also among the shareholders.

• Fans can get priority booking for the purchase of a season ticket for San Diego's inaugural season in MLS in 2025 by donating $18 (€16.6) to the San Diego Foundation.
• The Foundation funds organisations that promote football in the region.
