Serie A TIM: launch of a call for tenders for domestic TV rights from 2024-25

Lega Serie A has launched a call for tenders for the broadcasting rights to the Serie A TIM in Italy from the 2024-25 season on 19/05/2023. The deadline for submission of bids is Wednesday 14/06/2023 at 10.00 CET.

The Italian league publishes separate tender documents for "communication operators" and "independent intermediaries." A document is also published for companies to submit "proposals for the marketing and distribution of the Lega Serie A channel for the seasons 2024-25 to 2033-34" (documents available to download).

Interested broadcasters have the possibility to submit bids for a three, four or five-year cycle (i.e. until 2028-29). The reserve price is €1.2bn per year for a three-year cycle, €1.32bn for a four-year cycle and €1.44bn for a five-year cycle. The tender is separated into eight separate lots with three different options for each lot.

These lots include free-to-air broadcasting of between 5 and 79 Serie A TIM matches per season, depending on the option chosen. Lot 4, for example, provides for the pay-TV rights to eight matches on an exclusive basis each day, i.e…
