Switzerland: Heinrich Schifferle re-elected president of the Swiss Football League until 2015

The Swiss Heinrich Schifferle was unanimously re-elected president of the SFL (Swiss Football League, organiser of the 1st division Swiss Super League) until 2015, during the Annual General Meeting of the League on 21/11/2014.

Heinrich Schifferle, 61 years old, has held the presidency of the SFL since 2011. The term of office of the president of the League was reduced from three years to one year at the general meeting, to "respond more quickly in case a committee member no longer belonging to the club which nominated him," said the SFL.

  • Heinrich Schifferle is also vice-president of FC Winterthur, a Swiss second division club.

  • The ten clubs in the Raiffeisen Super League (Swiss 1st division) achieved a turnover of €665m in 2013-14, according to a study by the consulting firm Rütter Soceco for the SFL (Swiss Professional Football League) published on 11/11/2014.
  • 3,300 direct and indirect jobs were generated by clubs in the Swiss first division.
  • These clubs paid €35m in taxes in 2013-14.
