Bundesliga: Eintracht Frankfurt wants up to €20m in loans from individuals

Eintracht Frankfurt (Bundesliga) wants to get as much as up to €20m in loans from fifty individuals, said Axel Hellmann, vice-president in charge of finance of the board of the club, on 13/11/2014. Each lender would provide between $300,000 and €500,000.

"Let us ask the question: should we continue to fund ourselves via only football revenues, or should we seek a financial partner for the club. The fact is that there are opportunities to do both -- in Germany and abroad," said Axel Hellmann.

  • The loans would be made in the form of bond issues.
  • The transactions would not involve any change in the ownership of the club, because the current management of Eintracht Frankfurt wants "to keep control and seeks moderate steps to increase its resources," said Axel Hellmann.
  • "A sale of shares of Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG (the public limited company which manages the club's professional football section) is currently out of the question," said the vice-president of finance of Eintracht.
