ECA: auction of 200 shirts to raise funds for people affected by the earthquakes in Turkey & Syria

More than 200 shirts from 175 clubs are being auctioned online on the MatchWornShirt platform from 03 to 17/06/2023 to raise funds for the 18.5 million people affected by the February 2023 earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), announced the European Club Association (ECA) on 03/06/2023.

At the ECA's last general assembly on 28/03/2023 in Budapest (Hungary), its member clubs (245 in 2022-23) and those in its network (100 additional clubs) were invited to bring along a signed shirt for a charity sale to support a fund for the victims of the earthquakes that had taken place a few weeks earlier.

"In addition ECA will also donate €500,000 on behalf of its clubs, which will be directed to the UNHCR for its ongoing earthquake appeal," added the body, calling on clubs to "actively promote the auction on their social networks, ensuring wider outreach and contributing to the success of this initiative."
