France/Sponsorship: 7 recommendations from the ANJ to regulate the display of gambling operators

Prohibiting the display of a gambling operator on shirts intended for minors, avoiding granting sports infrastructure naming rights to sports betting operators, and not displaying promotional offers or redirect links to betting sites on sports organisations' communication media - these are three of the seven recommendations made by the French National Gambling Authority's (ANJ) working group dedicated to sports sponsorship by gambling operators on 01/06/2023.

The recommendations made by this group, launched by the ANJ in July 2022, are aimed in particular at "strengthening the regulation of these commercial practices" and providing a response "to the risks of making gambling commonplace and attractive to minors and those with gambling problems". An assessment of their implementation will be carried out by the ANJ during "the first quarter of 2024".
