MAA (Spanish Media Agencies Association), the Spanish media groups Mediapro and Prisa and the LFP (Spanish Professional Football League), signed a collaboration agreement against the illegal distribution of sports content on 11/11/2014. The aim is to prevent advertising investments into illegal content.

The signatories therefore undertake to work together to combat piracy of their content via Internet streaming or through the use of pirate decoders. They want to promote self-regulatory mechanisms that respect copyright and intellectual property in football. The agreement also states that advertising investment should be limited to the media, portals, websites and publishers who comply with intellectual property law.

  • The fight against illegal distribution of sporting events is one of the main points of the "Departamento de Integridad" (Department of Integrity), set up in the Spanish League by Javier Tebas, the president of the LFP on 19/117/2013.
    • This document also outlines strategies against match-fixing and illegal sports betting.
