Ligue 1: SC Bastia's Brandao sentenced to one month in prison and a fined €20,000

The Brazilian striker Brandao (SC Bastia, Ligue 1), was sentenced to one month in prison and fined €20,000 by the Criminal Court of Paris on 27/11/2014.

The prosecution had requested eight-month prison sentence and €15,000 fine for Brandao's assualt on the midfielder Thiago Motta (Paris Saint-Germain, Ligue 1) in the tunnel to the dressing rooms of the Parc des Princes, just after the Paris Saint-Germain - SC Bastia match (2-0, Matchday 2 of Ligue 1), on 16/08/2014. Brandao has been suspended six months by the Disciplinary Committee of the LFP (French Professional Football League) on 18/09/2014.

Brandao could still receive reduced sentencing, or his sentence could be converted to community service

• Brandao was served with a summons to Paris court after being placed in police custody on 22/08/2014.
• After the verdict, the president of the Criminal Court of Paris suggested that Brandao could still receive reduced sentencing:
