VCWC 2024: a global competition featuring football legends in Rwanda (10-20/05/2024)

The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) will be hosting the first-ever Veteran Clubs World Championship (VCWC) in Kigali, which will bring together 150 football legends from eight geographical zones from 10 to 20/05/2024, according to the event's organisers at a roadshow that will stop off in Paris (FRA) on 01/06/2023.

In addition to the tournament, which will feature the likes of Sonny Anderson (BRA), Robert Pirès (FRA), Gaizka Mendieta (ESP), Jay-Jay Okocha (NGA), Khalilou Fadiga (SEN) and France's Laura Georges (each team will include several players), the VCWC will also include a series of economic forums on peace, education, health, business and tourism. The Rwandan branch of the United Nations is one of the organisers of the VCWC, while the Rwanda Development Board, a Rwandan agency in charge of international investments in the country (Visit Rwanda), is the main partner, financing the major part of a budget estimated at $15m (€14m).
