Transfers: Karim Benzema (FRA) joins Al-Ittihad (KSA) until 2026 for €50-100m per season

French striker Karim Benzema, 35, has signed a contract with Al-Ittihad (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) until 2026, announced the club on 06/06/2023.

The former international (97 caps and 37 goals for the French national team) is expected to earn between €50m and €100m per season until the end of his contract in June 2026, according to several media reports. The 2022 Ballon d'Or winner, who has nearly 135 million fans on social media, had reached the end of his contract with Real Madrid CF (LaLiga Santander), which he joined in the summer of 2009. There, he won five Champions Leagues, four Spanish league titles and three Copa del Rey titles.

Equipped by adidas, the player who was trained at Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1 Uber Eats) will be reunited in the Saudi league with his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo (POR), who joined Al Nassr FC (Riyadh) until 2025 under a contract that provides him with an estimated annual income of €200m, on 30/12/2022.
