Manchester United: final offer of up to £6bn & ultimatum from Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani (09/06/2023)

Qatari Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani, chairman of Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), has submitted a fifth and final revised offer to acquire 100% of Manchester United FC (Premier League), according to English media on 07/06/2023.

The Qatari investor is said to have made a final offer higher than the £5bn (€5.75 billion as at 16/05/2023) on 17/05/2023, but which will not exceed £6bn (€6.9bn). It is said to be accompanied by an ultimatum for a response by Friday 09/06/2023. If not, the Qatari will withdraw from the bidding process. His offer would also include the wiping out of the club's debt (£514.9m/€596m as at 30/06/2022), as well as the creation of a fund dedicated to the club's development and to supporting Manchester United's community programmes.

The bid is said to be aimed at ousting its main rival: the INEOS group (chemicals), headed by British businessman Jim Ratcliffe, who already owns OGC Nice (Ligue 1 Uber Eats) and Lausanne-Sport (Credit Suisse Super League).
