Serie A TIM: an average of 29,386 spectators/game (+60.9%) & average fill rate of 77.1% in 2022-23

The 20 Serie A TIM clubs posted an average of 29,386 spectators per match during the 2022-23 season, up 60.9% on the 2021-22 season (18,265 spectators) and 17.2% on the 2018-19 season (25,068 spectators), the last to be played in its entirety without any restrictions on spectator numbers. The Italian top flight thus welcomed a total of 11.16 million spectators. This puts the Serie A league fourth among the European Top 5 leagues in terms of attendance, ahead of the Ligue 1 Uber Eats (average attendance of 23,810) but well behind the Bundesliga (average attendance of 42,967), which tops the ranking.

This increase can be explained by the end of the restrictions imposed on Italian stadiums as a result of Covid-19. Partial capacity, in force at the start of the 2021-22 season, was only abandoned from Matchday 31 onwards. In January 2022, Matchdays 22 and 23 were even played with a maximum capacity of 5,000 spectators.
