Eurosport Deutschland: Susanne Aigner-Drews (Discovery Communications) appointed managing director

The German Susanne Aigner-Drews is the new managing director of Eurosport Deutschland, the company said on 27/11/2014. She replaces compatriot Bernd Daubenmerkl, in office since 2006, and who will leave the company in April 2015.

The appointment of Susanne Aigner-Drews follows the takeover of the sports pay-TV Eurosport International group by the US pay-TV Discovery Communications group on 30/05/2014. Susanne Aigner-Drews has been the managing director of Discovery Communications for Germany, Austria and Switzerland since May 2011.

• Discovery Communications acquired a 20% stake in Eurosport International and Eurosport France from the French private-TV TF1 group on 21/12/2012, for an amount of €170m.
• Under the terms of an agreement, concluded on 21/01/2014 with TF1, the majority shareholder of the Eurosport Group, Discovery Communications' share in the capital of Eurosport International was to from 20% to 51% over the 2014 year.
• Discovery Communications completed increasing its position to a 51% stake in Eurosport International on 30/05/2014 for €253.3m.
