Spain: a record 15.7 million spectators in LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank in 2022-23 (+6,4%)

A record 15.77 million spectators attended the LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank games during the 2022-23 season, up 6.4% on the 2018-19 season (the last to be played in its entirety without any capacity restrictions), and up 31.3% on 2021-22, announced LaLiga on 19/06/2023.

These unprecedented attendance figures break down as follows:
• 11.18 million spectators in the Spanish first division, up 10.4% compared to 2018-19;
• 4.6 million in the second division, including the promotion play-offs, down 2.4% compared to 2018-19.

In addition, the average fill rate of Spanish stadiums reached 80.2% in 2022-23, up 14.6% on 2018-19 and 33.6% on 2021-22.

These record figures were reached despite "several stadiums undergoing partial or complete construction work to their stands," including Real Madrid CF's Santiago-Bernabéu and Villarreal CF's Estadio de la Cerámica, which saw their capacity being reduced for at least part of the 2022-23 season.
