Rugby: Vodafone (telecoms) to replace Cazoo as main shirt sponsor of the Welsh national team

Vodafone, a British telecommunications operator, has extended its partnership with the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) to become the main shirt sponsor and the back shorts sponsor of the men's national teams (senior, U20 and U18) as part of a multi-year agreement, announced both parties on 20/06/2023.

Vodafone also remains the main shirt sponsor of the Welsh senior women's team, of which it has been the founding partner since September 2022. As the "digital transformation partner" of the Principality Stadium (74,500 capacity) in Cardiff, Vodafone will use its 5G network to improve "matchday experiences for fans onsite and those watching at home."

The telecommunications operator will therefore appear on the shirts of at least two teams participating in the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France, as the brand is also the main shirt sponsor of the Irish national team (IRFU) over the 2015-2024 cycle, as part of a deal estimated at €4m per season.
