Bundesliga: Rothaus brewery could invest €12.78m in the future stadium of SC Freiburg

The German brewer Rothaus has an agreement with the City of Freiburg to invest €12.78m into the future stadium that SC Freiburg (Bundesliga) wants to build, announced the municipality on 27/11/2014. The club had submitted a project draft of a 35,000 seat stadium at an estimated cost of €108m on 07/10/2014. SC Freiburg would finance €70m of the work, with the remaining €38m being provided by the City of Freiburg (and now, Rothaus brewery), as well as the Land (province) of Baden-Württemberg (€10m).

The agreement between the City and the brewer is subject to approval of the project in a public referendum of the Freiburg population on 01/02/2015. This vote would validate the location of the stadium, as well as the public funding (€38m in total). The investment of Rothaus would reduce the portion financed by the municipality to €15.22m. "It's a win-win-win for everyone," said Dieter Salomon, the mayor of Freiburg.
