FC Bayern Munich: Qatar Airways, sleeve sponsor since 2018-19, will not extend beyond 2022-23

Qatari airline Qatar Airways has terminated "by mutual agreement" its sleeve sponsorship contract with FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga) that began in the 2018-19 season, announced the German club on 28/06/2023. The club has not yet announced a replacement.

The contract, which expired on 30/06/2023, was valued at €15m per season, making it the most lucrative sleeve sponsorship agreement in the Bundesliga in 2022-23, well ahead of the one linking the property group Harfid to FC Schalke 04 (€3m per season). It was also the third most lucrative sponsorship deal among the European Top 5 leagues, behind those signed by Chelsea FC with crypto-asset company WhaleFin (€23.3m per season, not renewed beyond 2022-23) and Paris Saint-Germain with footwear retailer Goat (€16.5m per year, 2023-2025).

Supporter members of the German club called for an end to the partnership with Qatar Airways at its annual general meeting on 25/11/2021.
