Serie A: Adriano Galliani (AC Milan) calls for the introduction of goal-line technology

"After the lastest episode of a 'ghost goal' (from a header of Adil Rami, the ball almost completely crossed the Udinese goal line, but the goal was not awarded by referee Paolo Valeri, who seems to have made the right decision) during the AC Milan - Udinese Calcio match (0-0 on 30/11/2014, Matchday 13 of the Serie A TIM), I have no doubt that the time has come, at least for the Serie A, to acquire a sure and certain technological system for evaluating such episodes," wrote Adriano Galliani, the CEO of AC Milan, in an open letter to Carlo Tavecchio, president of the FIGC (Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio, the Italian Football Federation) on 02/12/2014.

Goal-line technology "is essential to help match officials in evaluating determinant episodes and to prevent avoidable human error which spoils the excellent organisational work of an important competition such as the Serie A," said the leader in the letter published on the website of AC Milan.
