Espai Barça: "Cost of renovating our infrastructure could fall from €1.1bn to €930m" (Joan Laporta)

"The cost of renovating the Spotify Camp Nou and adjacent infrastructure could fall from the €1.1bn announced to €960m, or even €930m if all goes well. The reduction will be made possible by flexible interest rates for certain parts of the operation, which we can modify if the market offers us better conditions," said Joan Laporta, president of FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander), to the Catalan newspaper La Vanguardia on 03/07/2023.

The total budget for Espai Barça, a major project to modernise the club's infrastructure, had been set at €1.5bn on 17/10/2021. This downward revision concerns the €1.08bn earmarked for:
• the renovation of the Spotify Camp Nou (capacity increased to 105,000 and covered with a roof including 30,000 m2 of solar panels)
• the development of the area around the stadium and the Barça Campus (which will include a shop, museum and Hall of Fame)
• investments made as part of the MPGM (Modification of the Metropolitan General Plan)
• possible improvements to the Johan Cruyff Stadium.
