AC Milan and AC Monza (Serie A TIM) will play the first edition of the "Silvio Berlusconi Trophy" on 08/08/2023, a friendly match that will pit them against each other every year, announced the two clubs on 06/07/2023.

"This initiative aims to honour and keep the memory of president Silvio Berlusconi alive. He was a figure who wrote indelible pages in both clubs' histories," said AC Milan. The Italian, who died aged 86 on 12/06/2023, had been owner and president of AC Milan from 1986 to 2017 before his family holding company (Fininvest) finalised the acquisition of 100% of Societa Sportiva Monza 1912, who were in the Serie C at the time, on 28/09/2018. At the end of the 2021-22 season, four seasons later, the Lombardy club was promoted to the Serie A TIM for the first time ever.

While the first match will be played at Monza's U-Power Stadium, subsequent editions will alternate between the two clubs' stadiums.
