Naming rights: Betclic succeeds Bwin as title sponsor of the Liga Portugal from 2023-24

Betclic Group, a sports betting operator, has become the main partner of the Liga Portugal and the title sponsor of the Portuguese championship, which will be known as "Liga Portugal Betclic" from 2023-24, announced the Portuguese league on 05/07/2023.

The French group succeeded another betting operator, Bwin, title sponsor of the "Liga Portugal Bwin" in 2021-22 and 2022-23. This agreement was initially signed for five seasons, until 2025-26. NOS, a telecommunications group, announced on 26/05/2020 that it would not be extending as title sponsorship of the first Portuguese division, known for Liga NOS, between 05/02/2015 and 30/06/2021 (€6m per season during the 2018-2021 cycle).

Betclic is thus strengthening its partnership strategy in Portugal after becoming the title sponsor of the men's and women's professional basketball leagues ("Liga Betclic" and "Liga Betclic Feminina") under an agreement signed with the Portuguese Basketball Federation (FPB) for the 2021-2024 cycle for a total amount of €3m shared equally between the two divisions (€500,000 per season for each league).
