Multi-ownership: Aston Villa, Brighton, AC Milan and Toulouse admitted to the European Cups (UEFA)

Targeted by UEFA due to their shared ownership, Aston Villa FC (Premier League) and Vitória Sport Clube (POR) owned by Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, Brighton & Hove Albion FC (Premier League) and Royale Union Saint-Gilloise (Jupiler Pro League) owned by Tony Bloom, and AC Milan (Serie A TIM) and Toulouse FC (FRA) owned by the American fund RedBird Capital Partners, have all been authorised to compete in the European competitions for which they have qualified during the 2022-23 season, announced UEFA on 07/07/2023.

"The First Chamber of the UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) found that the significant changes implemented brought the clubs into compliance with the multi-club ownership rule, considering that as of today:
• No club, either directly or indirectly, holds or deals in securities or shares of any other club participating in a UEFA club competition;
• No club is a member of any other club participating in a UEFA club competition;
• No one has any power whatsoever or is simultaneously involved, directly or indirectly, in any capacity whatsoever in the management…
