Ballon d'Or 2023 / Sócrates Award: Alex Morgan, Oshoala, Rashford, Rüdiger and Vinicius Jr nominated

Alex Morgan (USA, San Diego Wave FC), Asisat Oshoala (NGA, FC Barcelona), Marcus Rashford (ENG, Manchester United FC), Antonio Rüdiger (GER, Real Madrid CF) and Vinicius Junior (BRA, Real Madrid CF) are the five nominees for the Sócrates Award, which will be presented at the 67^th Ballon d'Or ceremony organised by France Football (L'Équipe group) at the Théâtre du Châtelet (Paris, FRA) on 30/09/2023.

"The media exposure of football and footballers means that social responsibility is more important than ever. Inspired by the career of the Brazilian doctor and football player Sócrates Brasileiro Sampaio de Souza Vieira de Oliveira, the Sócrates Award, launched in 2022 with Monaco-based NGO Peace and Sport and the family of the former captain of the Brazilian national team, helps to identify the best solidarity actions carried out by committed champions," said France Football on 07/07/2023.

Sadio Mané (SEN, FC Bayern Munich) won the award in 2022 for his humanitarian work in his native region of Casamance (Senegal), which included the funding of a hospital and a school.
