Dailymotion: must pay €1.38m in damages to TF1 and LCI for violation of property rights

The Dailymotion video hosting platform has been ordered to pay €1.38m in damages to the French private broadcasting group TF1 for "infringement and unfair competition", by order of the Court of Appeal of Paris (FRA), on 02/12/2014.

Dailymotion is accused of failing to quickly withdraw from its platform content of which the TF1 group held the property rights in 2007, including TV series, movies, excerpts of the show of the popular French comedian Gad Elmaleh, the news programmes of TF1 and broadcasts from the news channel LCI.

Dailymotion, part of the Orange telecommunications group, owns the rights to broadcast, on the Internet and mobile platforms, summaries of Ligue 1 matches from 2012-2016.
