The LFP (Spanish Professional Football League) and the AFEPE (Association of supporters' federations) have set up a campaign "Afición respeto + = Vive el fútbol" (Supporters respect += Long live football) to fight against violence in football, announced the LFP on 04/12/2014.

As part of this campaign, a tarp with the motto "Afición respeto + = Vive el fútbol" will be displayed in Spanish stadiums, during the 14th and 15th Liga BBVA matchdays, and the 16th and 17th matchdays of Liga Adelante (Spanish second division) between 06 and 15/12/2014. A text condemning "acts of violence, racism, xenophobia and intolerance" will also be read before the meetings.

  • The campaign "Afición respeto + = Vive el fútbol" follows the death of Francisco Javier Romero Taboada (43 years old), supporter of Deportivo La Coruna, who was mortally wounded in incidents that pitted supporters of Deportivo against a group of supporters of Atlético Madrid, on the margins of the match played in Madrid (2-0, Matchday 13th of Liga BBVA) on 30/11/2014.
