MLS: Lionel Messi (ARG) signs for Inter Miami CF for 2.5 seasons, i.e. until the end of 2025

Lionel Messi (ARG) is joining Inter Miami CF as a designated player (a status that allows the franchise not to include the salary of the player benefiting from it in the salary cap imposed by the League) under a two-and-a-half-year contract that will run until the end of the 2025 Major League Soccer season, announced the American club on 15/07/2023.

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner has been a target for Saudi Arabia - he has been an ambassador for Visit Saudi, the Saudi tourist board, since 10/05/2022 - since the end of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain (Ligue 1 Uber Eats) at the end of the 2022-23 season, but is now heading for the United States via the franchise co-owned by David Beckham (ENG), Jorge Mas (USA) and Jose Mas (USA).
