Italy: private negotiations for TV rights to the Coppa Italia & Supercoppa (2023-2027 cycle)

"The Assembly has unanimously decided not to accept the bids received, therefore providing for a subsequent phase of private negotiations to be activated with the two bidders in the coming weeks," announced the Lega Serie A following a call for tenders for the domestic broadcasting rights to the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa and the Supercup EA Sports (Supercoppa Italiana) for the 2024-2027 cycle proved unsuccessful, despite bids from two broadcasters, on 14/07/2023.

The two broadcasters are the private Italian group Mediaset and the public broadcasting group Rai, according to Italian media reports. The Lega Serie A had launched the tender for these broadcasting rights on 27/06/2023. The deadline for submitting bids was 13/07/2023 at 10:00 CET.

Mediaset held the broadcasting rights to the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana in Italy for the 2021-2024 cycle. These rights were acquired for €48.2m a year, according to the Italian press.
