Euro 2024: UEFA presents its "ESG strategy" in partnership with the DFB & the German authorities

UEFA presented its "ESG strategy", a document explaining how it aims to make Euro 2024 in Germany a benchmark in environmental, social and governance (ESG) terms, on 17/07/2023, almost a year to the day before the final of the competition at Berlin's Olympiastadion on Sunday 14/07/2024.

"With this holistic concept, UEFA aims to contribute to making UEFA EURO 2024 the most sustainable European Championship of all time, and in partnership with the German Football Association (DFB) and the public authorities a role model for global events of its kind," explained the European Confederation.

The objectives assigned to the organisers of Euro 2024 via UEFA's ESG strategy (document available to download) include:

• "Reducing the impact on the environment, including in the areas of climate protection and waste management.
• Investing in a climate fund dedicated to projects focused on mitigating unavoidable tournament-related emissions.
