Football Agent Regulations: "Legality, validity and proportionality confirmed by CAS" (FIFA)

"FIFA welcomes today’s ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) that fully confirms the legality, validity and proportionality of the FIFA Football Agent Regulations (FFAR)," said the International Federation on 24/07/2023.

"The award represents the first in-depth legal assessment of the legality of the FFAR by an independent panel of renowned experts," said FIFA, commenting on the CAS decision of 24/07/2023 in the PROFAA (Professional Football Agents Association) case against FIFA (document available to download).

The international association for agents wants to block the rules designed to regulate their activity and cap their fees. The Court of Arbitration for Sport has declared that it "rejects in their entirety" the arguments put forward by PROFAA, an association based in Zurich (SUI), like FIFA, which had brought the case before the courts.

The new FIFA Agents' Regulations (available to download) came into force on 09/01/2023 following approval by the FIFA Council on 16/12/2022.

FIFA wants to cap agent commissions
