"Ligue 1 will lose around €300m (as of 30/06/2023). We have around €650m in player sales, but we have significant debt, with financial costs for the clubs of €45m. That's one of the things we're worried about, because that figure will be €80m next season," said Jean-Marc Mickeler, chairman of the DNCG, on the L'Équipe website on 28/07/2023.

"We're continuing in the same vein as last season. Revenues continue to grow, with €2.3bn excluding trading. Sponsorship, ticket sales and merchandising are all up, with the exception of European TV rights, which are down in view of our sporting performances. Expenses have also stabilised (€3.2bn). In 2021-22, we have an estimated operating deficit of around €900m, before transfers. It should be €750m by 2023-24," added Mickeler.

"The capital gain on transfers was €380m in 2021-22. Now it's over €650m. We are still too dependent on the sale of players to balance the books.
