Germany will present a bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics

Germany will present a bid to host the Olympics in 2024, the 456 members of DSOB (German Olympic Sports Confederation) decided at its general assembly in Dresden (GER) on 06/12/2014.

The DSOB voted in favor of launching an application process and set March 2015 to decide the proposed host city. This choice will be made at an extraordinary general meeting. A local referendum will then be held in the city chosen to allow people to express their willingness or not to host the Olympic Games. Berlin and Hamburg are the two cities currently being approached to represent Germany.

• Nominations for the 2024 Olympic Games must be submitted to the IOC (International Olympic Committee) before 08/01/2016.
• The host city of 2024 Olympic Games will be known during the first half of 2017.
