The Union Cycliste Internationale is working with Global Climate Initiatives (GCI) and 261PI to roll out the UCI Sustainability Impact Tracker (available in French and English), an online tool that will enable national federations, UCI teams and event organisers to measure their impact, announced the body on 01/08/2023.

The UCI is launching this platform to coincide with the 2023 Cycling World Championships in Glasgow (Scotland), the first edition of the event's new format, which now includes 13 world championships. These World Championships "will be the first to have their carbon footprint and sustainability impact tracked on the platform."

"The organisers will calculate their carbon footprint and measure their contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals thanks to the platform’s different functions. This innovative technological solution will directly support the cycling family to develop action plans, and to track and communicate social, environmental, and economic impacts in a consistent manner to globally recognised standards," explained the UCI.
