FC Sochaux: CNOSF rejects bid to stay in Ligue 2 BKT, club's future highly uncertain

The CNOSF has issued an unfavourable opinion concerning the retention of FC Sochaux-Montbéliard in Ligue 2 BKT on 01/08/2023.

The club, which was relegated to National 1 by the DNCG (at first instance on 28/06, then on appeal on 11/07/2023), had defended its case before the CNOSF on 31/07/2023.

FC Sochaux, 9^th in the final 2022-23 Ligue 2 BKT standings, was represented by Romain Peugeot, great-grandson of Jean-Pierre Peugeot (the founder of FC Sochaux-Montbéliard in 1928), who had completed a takeover bid with the backing of investors and the support of the local authorities, the Chinese group Nenking, which had owned the club since 2020, having decided to withdraw.

"Despite the urgency with which we have worked over the last few weeks, we have presented the CNOSF with a solid case for keeping FCSM in Ligue 2," said Romain Peugeot on 31/07/2023, according to France Bleu Belfort-Montbéliard, after the hearing with the CNOSF organised by videoconference.
