UEFA: the real reasons behind the Italy-Turkey joint bid to host Euro 2032

"UEFA confirms that it has received today a request from the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) to merge their individual bids into one joint bid to host UEFA Euro 2032," announced the European body on 28/07/2023.

Turkey had initially submitted two bids, one for 2028 and the other for 2032. As for Italy, they had concentrated on 2032, after abandoning Euro 2028, likely to be awarded to the five Football Associations of the United Kingdom and Ireland (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Ireland).

"UEFA will now work with FIGC and TFF (the sole candidates) to ensure that the documentation to be submitted for their joint bid is compliant with the bidding requirements. If the joint bid does comply with such requirements, it will be submitted to the UEFA executive committee at the meeting scheduled on 10/10/2023 (in Nyon, SUI), where the appointments for 2028 and 2032 will be made," explained the European Confederation.
