Premier League: inauguration of the new Manchester City academy adjacent to the Etihad Stadium

Manchester City FC (Barclays Premier League) inaugurated the City Football Academy, 32 hectares of facilities including the training centre, youth training centre and administrative offices of the club, near the Etihad Stadium in Manchester on 08/12/2014. The project was launched in 2008.

The cost of infrastructure is estimated between £150m and £200m pounds (€190m and €253m). The academy is located on a former industrial site, so an important phase of de-pollution and land development was required. "The City Football Academy is a project that has turned a derelict 80-acre site into a valuable community asset. I know the journey of transformation for East Manchester will continue with partners like Manchester City and that the community will be healthier and wealthier for it,” said Sir Richard Leese, leader of Manchester City Council.
