UEFA: CA Osasuna (LALIGA EA Sports) fined for taking civil action

Club Atletico Osasuna (LALIGA EA Sports) has been authorised to take part in the 2023-24 Europa Conference League by UEFA as part of the club's appeal proceedings before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), but has been fined €100,000 and fined 5% of its revenue from its 2023-24 European campaign if it qualifies for the group stage, announced the European body on 03/08/2023.

Disciplinary proceedings had been initiated by UEFA after CA Osasuna "resorted to ordinary justice to defend its participation in the 2023-24 Europa Conference League," according to the Spanish club. As part of the decision handed down by UEFA on 03/08/2023, the club is "excluded from the next UEFA club competition for which it would otherwise qualify" but this sanction "is suspended for a probationary period of two years, starting from the date of the present decision," explained the body. Thus "if the club does not appeal to the ordinary courts during this period, the sanction will be null and void," added CA Osasuna.
