Cycling: Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) will host the 2028 Road World Championships

The International Cycling Union has unveiled the list of host cities for the next Road World Championships for the 2024-2030 period at its 192^nd Congress, held in conjunction with the launch of the 2023 UCI World Championships in Glasgow (Scotland, GBR) on 03/08/2023.

Abu Dhabi will host the road cycling world championships for the first time in its history in 2028. The capital of the United Arab Emirates, which has hosted an FIA Formula 1 World Championship Grand Prix on the Yas Marina circuit since 2009, will also host the Track World Championships in 2029. Doha (Qatar) had previously hosted the UCI Road World Championships in 2016.

Another Middle Eastern country is involved in hosting UCI competitions, as Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, has been given the task of organising the Urban Cycling World Championships in 2025 and 2026. The Saudi city of Alula (or "Al-ʿUla") will also host the Gravel World Championships in 2028.
