OL Groupe: Eagle Football closes its takeover bid & acquires an additional 7.6% stake for €49.3m

Eagle Football Holdings Bidco Limited, a company controlled by the American John Textor, has acquired 16,446,364 shares in OL Groupe for a total of €49.3m (i.e. €3 per share) as part of its takeover bid launched on 20/07 and closed on 02/08/2023, announced the holding company that owns Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1 Uber Eats), which is listed on the Euronext Paris stock exchange, on 04/08/2023.

Eagle Football has thus reinforced its status as majority shareholder in OL Groupe, in which it now holds 154,232,133 shares representing "87.69% of the share capital and at least 86.62% of the voting rights."

The transaction initially involved 17,610,237 shares, but a number of small shareholders opted to keep theirs.

OL Groupe and Eagle Football also undertook, on 22/06/2023, to buy back a third of OL Groupe's shares from Holnest, the family office of Jean-Michel Aulas (former president of OL), by 10/08/2023 for nearly €14.5m (4,826,540 shares at €3 each), and the remaining two-thirds at a later date, "at a price per share set on the basis of the company's fair market value."
