Tennis: record prize money of $65m (€59.1m) for the 2023 US Open (+8% compared to 2022)

The prize money for the 2023 edition of the US Open Grand Slam, which takes place from 28/08 to 10/09/2023, has reached a record $65m (€59.1m as of 09/08/2023), an increase of 8% compared to 2022 ($60m) and 13.5% compared to 2019 ($57.24m), according to the organisers, the United States Tennis Association (USTA), on 08/08/2023.

The men's and women's singles winners will take home a record $3m (€2.72m, +15.3% on 2022), the singles finalists $1.5m (€1.36m), while the men's and women's doubles winners will receive $700,000 (€636,637). "This year's increase in player compensation takes on greater significance as the US Open celebrates 50 years of equal prize money; in 1973, the tournament was the first of the four Grand Slams to offer the same purse for men and women, with each competing for total purses of $100,000, with a $25,000 payout to both the men’s and women’s singles champions," explained the USTA.

The US Open is the Grand Slam tournament to offer the highest prize money in 2023: €52.1m for Wimbledon, €50m for the Australian Open and €49.6m for Roland-Garros.
