EBU acquires TV rights for eight FIFA competitions in 37 European countries and territories

The EBU (European Broadcasting Union) acquired the broadcasting rights, in 37 European countries and territories, to eight competitions organised by FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) over the 2015-2017 period on 08/12/2014. The agreement includes, in particular, the 2015 Women's World Cup (Canada, from 06/06 to 05/07/2015), and the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup (Russia).

The acquired rights apply to all broadcast platforms (TV, radio, Internet, mobile devices). "The agreement is an expression of the EBU Membership’s commitment to national team football and fits its public service mission of the EBU Members to broadcast a diverse range of sports events to the widest possible audience," stated the EBU on 08/12/2014.

• The EBU has the broadcasting rights for the European zone of qualifying (organised by UEFA) for Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup, as well as the final torunaments of the 2018 World Cup (Russia) and 2022 (Qatar).
